Half Moon Bay

Next Friday, the 17th, Half Moon Bay, Old Princeton Landing (460 Capistrano Road) were playing with DAIKON and LEVEL UP BEAT DOWN. 9PM, 5 bucks. It's gonna be awesome. Totally serious.

Razorcake Review

We recently received a very nice review in the latest issue of Razorcake magazine (issue #58). The reference to ONE LAST WISH is pretty amazing as "My Better Half" happens to be one of my all time favorite songs.

We even made the reviewer's top 5 for the issue, coming in at #4 (just two places behind his vasectomy, which I think is a pretty big deal).

Fullyintercoastal Records Website

Fullyintercoastal Records (OK, me) is finally getting it together and is updating the website so it looks good, or at least better than it did. You can find more information on the band there and maybe there are some plans for a proper Pine Away record coming up and some other records. Check it out. fullyintercoastal records

Balazo, again

We're playing tomorrow night (Thursday the 7th) at SUB-MISSION (Mission @ 19th) with DAIKON, TERRY MALTS and YI. It's gonna be really good, really. I'm a big fan of Daikon (and not just the radish). I'm guessing it's $5 and starts at 8ish (so most likely 9PM).

Balazo Hardcore Show

We're playing a show at Balazo/Sub-Mission on Thursday the 16th. It's at 9PM sharp and I think we're playing first so be on time. I'm guessing the show is $5 but not sure. The other four bands are all hardcore bands that I'm pretty excited about. NO STATIK includes too many members of past and current great bands to even mention. HORNSS is heavy stuff from former member of the JACK SAINTS and they spell their name with two s's so they're twice as good. Don't know too much about ZERO PROGRESS but they sound pretty good. Lastly I'm sort of afraid to even mention PILLS because I don't want to blow the internet's mind but I hear that it is good stuff (though they should have spelled it with a "z", I mean pills with an "s" is kind of like spelling punx the incorrectly, you know, with a "ks" but whatever).

Updates - Rasputin's, Reviews

We are playing at Rasputin Music in Berkeley on next Sunday, August 29th. It's at 1PM in the afternoon and of course is free. We'll be playing songs and giving record purchasing recommendations. "College rock like when "college rock" meant something", I love it.

The Berkeley Last Sunday Fest is going to be going on at the same time where they close down Telegraph and bands play outside and people try to sell you their crap or something so if you drive, be aware of that. Oh yeah, our friends Hooray For Everything will be playing that festival at 3PM so you can stick around to see that as well.

We also recently got a great review of "The Barefoot Feel" tape in Collective Zine. Andy and some other folks have been at this for a long time. Speaking of recommendations, they give some great ones on new bands worth looking at in their forum.

Wood Pigeons Video

Lawn Bowling (Pine Away) from Bob Thayer on Vimeo.

San Francisco filmmaker, rock musician and general nice guy, Bob Thayer, made this film featuring the San Francisco Lawn Bowling Club and the music of Pine Away. Bob and I went by one Saturday and though we didn't catch them in their lawn bowling whites, we did catch them bowling. The folks there were very nice, Bob filmed, I sat on a bench trying to explain to people passing by that lawn bowling is in fact nothing like bocce ball and that they should really keep their voices down while making such comments because it's quite offensive to the players.

El Rio - This Friday

This Friday, the 28th of May, the year 2010 we are playing a show at El Rio, down on Mission Street. I think the show is free and we are playing with a pretty awesome band called Hooray for Everything. I'm gonna bet that it starts about 8ish and I'm gonna bet that it'll be pretty cool.

CORRECTION: Genesis Climber is also playing. It's their first show in 2 years. Also, I just found out that the show doesn't start until 9PM

Epicenter Cafe - Saturday, May 29

We're playing a show on Saturday, May 29 at Epicenter Cafe (not The Epicenter Zone, though it would be funny if we broke in and played a show there). It's South of Market, on Harrison between 3rd and 4th (next to the Whole Foods). Show starts at 7PM and we're playing first so show up on time, seriously. There is no cover but donations for the touring band would be great.

Palace of Buddies is playing second, they're from Salt Lake City and you should check out their sound.

Daikon is playing last, they're from San Francisco and if you click on that link you will find their record that you can and should download for free because it's pretty great. I listen to it all the time.

Maximum Rock 'n Review

So this is a review of "The Barefoot Feel" cassette that is in the new issue of Maximum Rock 'n Roll (#325, June 2010). Funny story is that I went in to drop it off and I asked who did demo reviews beside Robert, the answer "mostly hardcore dudes". So I stuck the note on there thinking it was pretty funny. I'm pretty sure Robert gets more hardcore points for taking it anyway.

I also happen to like hardcore A LOT and cassette tapes and if you do to, you should check out Robert's cassette tape blog Terminal Escape. He's got some great stuff on there. He's also in a bunch of great bands and if you can find the OPT OUT demo, I highly recommend it.

The Barefoot Feel - New Tape

We have a new tape. They're done and I have them now if you would like to get in touch or you can download it for free if you want it for digital listening (see above or to the right for our bandcamp page). It comes with a lyrics sheet this time (either in the tape case or as a JPEG file if you download the whole thing) and a bunch of photos of us in wacky poses wearing fashionable clothing, well maybe not that.

There are also still a couple copies of the old tape left (and CD as well) or once again it is still available to be downloaded for free.

New Songs

Well, I Do Lots of Things.mp3

Hi, take a listen to a digitally inferior version of this new song that will be the first song on our new cassette that will be ready soon, very soon. I'm just waiting to get it mastered but it should be either three or four new songs that were recorded at the end of January. The cassette is currently titled "The Barefoot Feel" and this might be what the artwork looks like, but we'll see. Feel free to express your opinion.

Maximum Review

Here's a review of our demo that is in Issue #321 (February 2010) of Maximum RockNRoll. Not a rave review but totally fair in my opinion (I also happen to know that Robert likes his music a little faster, a little heavier and a little crustier). Just thought I'd share it.

The Cruz, Part III: It's On, Again

Friday night, Santa Cruz, it's on again, at Coaster's. We're playing first, at 9pm. Kicked In plays second, followed by the Intergalactic Smugglers. Should be lots of fun.

Unfortunately we are a week late for the Giant Dipper, damn you winter.
